One such news we found with the help of our auto reporters who reported that GM might be reconsidering the earlier shelved 4.5-liter Duramax diesel V8 engine for their pickups, but this time with a slight interesting twirl. The 4.5-liter Duramax diesel V8 oil burning PowerPlant initially was intended only for half ton trucks. But as per our recent reports GM now is planning to introduce it for its full-size pickup trucks as well. We even have heard that the 4.5-liter Duramax diesel V8 engine might also be powering some of the Heavy Duty models.

As per the reports from General Motors (GM), their 4.5-liter diesel V8 engine is “completely urbanized and all set” to enter the market. The new developed 4.5-liter Duramax diesel V8 engine will have the maximum power rating of 310 horsepower and maximum torque rating of 520 pound-feet. All these figures will just match what the bigger Duramax diesel engines were known for about a year ago and apparently will be sufficient for the 2500 class of trucks. Moreover, our reporters came to know from the General Motors’s technicians the still-running convoy of 4.5 diesel engines is delivering fuel economy of an imposing 25 miles per gallon.

So if you are fan of GM’s HD trucks and were waiting for a significant technical upgrade in them, then this news is what you’ve been waiting for. Let’s wait and watch when the engine roars in the market.

One another change worth mentioning will be given to the 6.0 liter engine, which will be in the form of camshaft profile which is said to generate more torque lower in the power band. The big news, though, is with the diesel.

There will be trivial change in the body dimensions for 2011 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra HD, though the body styles will remain the same. And the Silverado/Sierra HD will be offered in extended cab, crew cab or regular cab trim levels with all the trims available in short or long bed choice. General Motors has revised their 6.6 liter turbo diesel engine to feature B20 capability. This new engine will also be designed to meet the new emission standards laid down by the government.

The new Duramax will power the updated GMC Sierra heavy duty pick ups, 2011 Chevy Silverado, Chevrolet express and GMC Savana full size vans. GM has plans to unveil the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado heavy duty truck at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show that will be held on Feb 10.

B20 capability in heavy duty trucks will maximize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions and minimize the dependence of petroleum.

General Motors have always been appreciated for their continuous efforts in marketing of flex fuel vehicles which is capable of running on E85 ethanol. Bio diesel is similarly produced with renewable fuel from plant matter generally from soybean oil.

The bio diesel engines have undergone various tests and they perfectly meet the ASTM International Standard D7467 which covers bio diesel blends between B6 and B20.

General Motors has upgraded some seals and gasket materials to make the Duramax 6.6 liter engine fuel system compatible with B20. To reduce the chances of fuel getting waxed or gelled an additional heating of the fuel circuit was added. This system features a injector that supplies fuel for the regeneration process and saves  fuel and  works better with B20  than in  cylinder post injection.

General Motors offers a five year /100,000 miles powertrain warranty on the Duramax diesel engines.
