Posted in Trucking News on December 30, 2009
With severe winter already welcomed in our country, the worst thing that you like to do in the morning is scraping off the snow from the car windshields. It makes you feeling severely cold.
Its GM’s forte to take care of the needs of buyers and they have perfectly fulfilled their duty by introducing remote start feature in the 2010 Chevy editions. The remote start feature which was available as an optional feature has been popular in the Chevy trucks and cars. The company now proposes to introduce factory installed feature in most of the Tahoe and Suburban versions.
This new feature is very useful in chilly winters as the owner can defrost before they get into the car and move to work, and once they are seated they can take advantage of warm interiors which makes driving a pleasure .
This feature has a dual advantage as it reduces overall emissions as when the idle engine warms; it also activates the catalyst that helps in trapping unburned hydrocarbons.
The remote start feature also helps in reducing the stress of a car thief jumping inside the car and driving off as the vehicle door is locked from out side.
This feature makes sure that the vehicle is operating properly when started. It runs for ten minutes and then shuts off unless the driver extends the running time. The remote start feature ensures that its hood is closed and also conducts an array of vehicle diagnostics.
The remote start feature has been designed for easy access. The operator needs to press the LOCK key on the fob to lock the vehicle doors and press the start button for one and half second to activate. The remote start keys sends signals and when the engine is started the parking lamps start glowing.
The main highlight of this Chevy feature is that it is integrated with vehicles electrical, theft and safety systems which enhance the reliability and quality of the feature.
Ford is also into the foray of adding this as a standard feature in some editions.
However the Ford and Toyota factory installed features are much expensive than that offered by General Motors.
The remote start feature will be offered in the 2010 Silverado, Equinox, HHR, Camaro, Cobalt, Avalanche, Traverse, Impala, Tahoe, Suburban and Express models.
