Early look: 2011 Lincoln MKX
Posted in Trucking News on January 29, 2010
The Lincoln MKX has been available for sales for the past four years and the updated edition was almost due. The refurbished edition is now unveiled at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.
The updated edition features new looks, more powerful V6 engine, and upgraded technology.
The exterior body line is also intriguing with broad fender arches, new split wing corporate grille and rocker panels. The rear end features new taillights, and hidden rear parking sensors. However, the new 18 inch and 20 inch wheels and larger exhaust tip enhances the overall look of this edition.
The revamped edition will feature Ford’s latest 3.7 liter Duratec V6 engine. It will be paired with VVT on all of the camshafts which would deliver 305 horsepower and 280 pounds feet of torque which is 40 horsepower and 30 lb-ft of torque more than the earlier edition. This burly engine is teamed with six speed automatic transmission with manual shift.
The highlight of this edition is that along with the increased power performance it would also retain its ability to deliver 25 mpg on the highways. The engineers have been able to achieve this class leading fuel efficiency due to a smart charging system that reduces engine drag.
This edition is aiming at the title of the biggest update with Ford’s MyFord and MyLincoln technology which is a new interface for the radio, navigation climate SYNC and other controls. This system replaces the tradition button controls with a touch screen and a five way controller which is similar to those found in ipods and mobile phones. You can adjust the buttons by either tapping or by dragging a finger across the screen. The new interface system also sports Ford’s iTunes music tagging feature through SYNC.
To complement the high tech features the interior cabin also offers an unambiguous styling with all new seats. The interiors are designed using good quality materials which add a touch of class.
Lincoln claims that they have used sound deadening materials and acoustic glass beneath the skin which would quieter the interior cabin. Lincoln now boasts of moving ahead of its competitors like Lexus and Audi in noise suppression.
The updated edition will also include an array of new features like adaptive cruise control, a cross traffic alert system, an emergency braking assist system, hill start assist, trailer sway control, a blind spot warning system, MyKey programmable keys, and Fords Easy Fuel capless fuel filler system. This edition is also equipped with upgraded MKX’s brakes, retuned shocks, springs and stabilizers to offer a comfortable and luxurious ride.
This edition truly seems to be hi tech and an appealing edition. It is expected to go on sale sometime in 2010 as a 2011 edition however; the final date of sale or pricing is not yet confirmed.

If it’s a truck then it has to be like a hunk! 18 and 20 inch wheels should be the least in this section of vehicles.
