Kia Plans To Introduce A New Concept Of Micro Truck
Posted in Trucking News on December 23, 2009
It is rightly said “All good things come in small packages”. In this modern era everybody is looking at micro objects from micro minis to micro vehicles. Keeping this trend in mind the Kia designers are rooting to move the concept of Soul’ster micro truck to reality.
The designers at Kia have decided to refurbish its hatchback the Soul to the Soul’ster edition. Kia showcased this concept at the Detroit Auto Show to gather feed back from the show goers before turning their dream in to reality.
Spokesman from Kia confirmed that the company plans to start production but there is no official decision taken.
If produced this new edition would add a spark to the truck segment. However figures reveal that there is declining demand for small trucks. The declining figures could be a result of lack of innovation of in this segment or long going recession.

It was studied that buyers choose full size pick up truck due to their V8 engine along with higher towing demands and they are available at the price of a mid size or compact truck.
Kia after studying the market has plans to introduce the Soul’ster at lower price to gain the market strength. They wish to rekindle the demand for small trucks like it was in 1980 and 1990. They have plans to drop the two doors of the Soul hatchback and roof of the rear area to covert this hatch back into the truck. This hipster edition would be priced at an approximate price of $13,995.
The Korean manufacturer is tight lipped about this new venture. We will have to wait till the company confirms the launch of the new four cylinder edition and whether it will cater only the US buyers or other markets also.
Till then keep tuned for finer details.
