The 2010 Chicago Auto Show witness to the Ford Transit Connect Electric and Taxi edition

The Chicago Auto Show has always witness debuts from Ford. The 2009 Chicago Auto Show launched its new range of commercial van called as the Ford Transit Connect. The 2010 Chicago Auto Show has already adorned the updated new technology versatile van the Ford Transit Connect Electric and Ford Transit Connect Taxi .
The Transit Connect Electric
This edition is Fords first battery electric produced vehicle. It will be powered by a 280 Kwh battery pack which will be placed beneath the cargo floor and will be propelled by a 55kW AC motor. It is expected that this fully charged battery would provide an approximate of 80 miles of range.
The system has been well engineered that it makes it difficult to distinguish between the electric connect from the gas powered engine.
This edition is well designed with less weight in the back and adequate cargo space which makes it ideal for small deliveries within large cities. The battery cells add an approximate 600 pounds which slightly reduces the payload to 1000 pounds.
The Transit Connect Taxi
The Ford Transit Connect Taxi is designed with major focus on the passengers. The interiors are well designed to suit tall passengers. The rear seats are designed to allow easy movement of passengers inside and outside the cabin. The Transit Connect Taxi edition is designed with a tall roofline, with plenty of headroom and a shelf against the header panel which offers extra storage. It offers impressive cargo space so as to make adequate space for shopping bags also.
The Transit Connect Taxi will offer an optional package with 2.0 liter I -4 to run on CNG or propane.
